Is there anyway to fight an ER bill?
I went to the ER for abdominal pain. I sat in the room for 12 hours. The nurse practitioner came in spoke to me and poked me in the abdomen a few times to see where it hurt the most. That took all of 5 mins. She later brought in the doctor and she poked me. That took even less time. I spent 99% of my time sitting in the room waiting for answers. They then came around and took me for a CT scan of my abdomen. There the tech told me that I only had 1 kidney. I was in complete SHOCK as no one has ever told me this before and I had an appendectomy, so imagine my surprise. I went back to my room and continued to sit. The nurse came in about 3 hours later telling me that pretty much they have no clue what's wrong. In a few few days I got the CT report from the radiologist and it seems the tech was completely wrong. I have my TWO kidneys. The reason he couldn't see the other is because they didn't make me drink that white chalky drink that makes your insides glow before going in for a detailed scan. So pretty much I sat in the ER for 12 hours, got no help, was wrongly told that I had one kidney, and was later sent packing after the doctor forgot that I was still there waiting for results. Now around hour 8 of sitting in the room some one from the admin office came around to collect a $200 payment from me for the use of the room. I reluctantly handed over my charge card and paid the $200. Well this week I got a $10,000 bill in the mail! I wonder how me sitting in the room and not being helped equals out to 10G's. I paid the $200 for the room that I sat in and that's all they deserve from me. Is there anyway to fight this $10,000 bill?
