What do I do to teach, and keep my 8 month grand babyhappy, and entertain her she seems so bored with me?

I try to play with her and entertain her but she seems so bored, and unhappy. I feel so bad b/c I feel like I am failing at my job. Please keep in mind she is to a very bright child. She is very observant, and bright. Your help and suggestions are very well appreciated. Thank you in advance. And please keep vulgar jokes to yourself if you please.
