Was there ever a law in the state of Ohio regarding non-emergency appendectomy?

Many people believe there was or is a law in Ohio stating that whenever a doctor performs surgery on an individual that requires opening the abdominal cavity, they are required to remove said person's appendix. It is supposed to be a preventive measure, protecting the patient from future incidents involving the appendix. Can somebody please clarify?
