Driving after seizures?

After menopause I have had trouble sleeping off and on. This last summer I had two emergency surgeries(appendectomy and return surg, for abscess)and again started having problems with sleeping. My PCM prescribed me Ativan (2mg). I called and told his nurse that it was making me feel confused and could they prescribed me something else. They called in both the Ativan again plus told me to take Zanax(.5mg) in the daytime. My next visit I told my PCM I wanted to stop both and maybe just try a glass of wine. He told me this would be okay, but did not tell me to wean off. I stopped. . .cold turkey and it sent me into seizure, twice to be exact. Scared me to death, almost bit my tongue off. MRI & EEG were clear, but I am told I can't drive for six months. If I feel great now, on a med called Trazadone. Now finally for my ? how strict is this no driving restriction?
