Question about e-mail recipients and body messages?

I will be e-mailing a bunch of people (like a lot of people) and I need to personalize the messages. The general body message will be the same but I just need to change the recipient name within the message. Would it be possible to somehow e-mail them all at the same time with personalized names through another program or something? I feel like I learned how to do something like this by using excel, but I forgot and what I learned may be irrelevant. Thanks for the help!!
