When can I change my belly button ring?

I have had it pierced for almost three months now, however, I had to have it taken out for an emergency appendectomy about 2 months in. It bled a little but it seemed okay and did not become infected when it was put back in. My question is, does the fact that I removed it make the amount of time I have to wait start all over again? I was going to wait like 4 months but idk now.
